Instrument Rating Instructor

Instrument Rating Instructor (A) or FI(A) extended privileges to instruct toward instrument rating (A). The aim of the IRI training course is to train aircraft license holders to the level of competence defined in FCL.930, and adequate for the IRI.


The privilages of an IRI are to instruct for the issue, revalidation and renewal of an EIR or and IR on the appropriate aircraft category.


Applicants holding or having held an instructor certificate shall be fully credited towards the requirement of 25 hours of teaching and learning instruction.


Duration

2 - 6 weeks


Course includes


  • 25 hrs in-class teaching & learning theory
  • 10 hrs Technical Training
  • 10 hrs flight training (5 hours for applicants with FI)

Entry Requirements


Instrument Rating Instructor (Aircraft)


  • At the discretion of the Head of Training, possess an attitude suitable for

    an airman.

  • Valid rating IR(A)

  • 800 hours of flying in accordance with Instrument Flight Rules

    whereof at least 400 hours shall be in airplanes.


FI(A) extended privileges to instruct toward instrument rating (A)


  • At the discretion of the Head of Training, possess an attitude suitable for

    an airman.

  • Valid license CPL(A) or higher.

  • Valid rating IR(A)

  • Valid license FI(A)

  • 200 hours of flying in accordance with Instrument Flight Rules of

    which up to 50 hours may be in a flight simulator or FNPT II.


Instrument Rating Instructor (Multi Engine Aircraft)


  • At the discretion of the Head of Training, posses an attitude suitable for

    an airman.

  • Valid CRI rating.

  • 500 hours flight time as a pilot on airplanes;

  • 30 hours as PIC on the applicable class or type of airplane;
